NMC is refurbishing our Church to:

  • add a new toilet block,
  • refurbish the hall,
  • build a new entrance hall,
  • upgrade gas and electric services,
  • upgrade heating systems.

This will modernise and future proof our church.

The new toilets consist of 5 self contained cubicals each with hand washing and drying facilities. This makes them gender neutral as per current regulations. They will also be more hygenic. A corridor/general area links the cubicals. Facilities for baby changing and disabled access are incorporated.

Hall refurbisnment includes removing the old stage to increase the overall floor area. This will make a good size hall for use by us and for rental by village folks. It will fit between the Large Old School Room and the larger Village Hall making it a great venue for childerns (and adults - sorry no alcohol allowed on the premisis) parties, meetings, coffee morning, jumble sales etc. The cupboards around the outside of the hall have been removed to maximise the space. Lightweight tables and chairs will be stored in a new store room next to the toilets.
A new kitchen with 2 ovens, microwave, fridge, coffee & tea making facilities has a serving hatch through to the hall.

A new light and airy entrance hall has been built replacing the dated 1970's frontage. The old toilets at the front of the church have been removed to make space for the new entrance hall. We want to make the hall as welcoming as possible to all. The frontage is built as an arch, echoing the original rare Art Deco arched window. A modern double glazed arched window will finish it off, letting in a lot of light.

Other improvements include new floor coverings, chairs for the sanctuary, window curtains/blinds, replastering and decoration.

Completion will be September/October when we will hold an open weekend when all are invited to view it and to celebrate the opening. More details later, there will activities and information available.
